ACSESS Celebrates Staffing for Canada Week June 6 to 12th, 2010

 MISSISSAUGA – June, 2010 – As Canada continues a steady climb from the recession, temporary workers across the country will be celebrating Staffing for Canada Week from June 6th to 12th, 2010.  Member companies of The Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Services (ACSESS), their professional staff and field workers will be actively involved in celebrations as the number of temporary positions has increased dramatically in the first quarter of 2010.

Staffing for Canada Week began in 1980, first known as “National Temporaries’ Week”.   This celebration has become more widely recognized in both Canada and the United States, based on the dramatic growth in the numbers of contract and temporary workers contributing to the skilled labour force in all industry sectors.

The celebration is supported by local dignitaries and Canada’s Political leaders.  ACSESS is proud of the endorsements received each year from the Prime Minister of Canada and Provincial Premiers.  In 2010, Prime Minister Harper has extended the following message to the staffing profession:  “Staffing agencies provide a valuable service by connecting businesses with job seekers.  Staffing for Canada Week presents and ideal opportunity to increase public awareness of employment and staffing agencies, while offering the many Canadians who have already benefited from these services a chance to express their appreciation.”

The purpose of the Celebration is to acknowledge the over 400,000 Canadians who are employed through the staffing profession.  With more than 1,300 member offices across Canada, ACSESS members represent 85 percent of the total volume of business in the staffing services industry in Canada.  Member firms are involved in every staffing niche from temporary and contract staffing to direct hire and professional search.
