Young professionals use recruiters to jump-start their career paths

Beverley Rebello recently landed a great job with Bausch and Lomb by working with Lannick Group, an established recruitment firm specializing in accounting and finance roles. A Certified Management Accountant, Rebello enlisted recruitment firms early in her career to help get on -- and stay on -- the right career path. Here is her story…

What is your role at Bausch and Lomb?

As a Financial Analyst, I provide business support to the Vision Care and Pharma businesses.  It’s a great role, with a great company.

What has your experience working with recruitment firms?

I tried to do my own career search, but realized that it’s easier to leave the search to a recruiter because they have well established relationships with employers.

How has using a recruiter helped you to find the right roles?

I ended up on the right team because the process was focused on finding a good match for my skills and expertise.

Do you think that using a recruiter helps the hiring company?

I think it narrows the pool of people they’d be considering. Recruiters conduct a thorough screening of candidates before they present someone to a potential employer.

How do you find the right recruiter?

Conduct your own screening process! Meet with different recruiters and find the one who really understands your experience and future career goals. My Lannick recruiter and I have similar personalities, so it was easier for her to understand the type of environment that would provide the right fit.
