EVENTS: Staffing For Canada Week 2009 Show Your Appreciation to Your Staff and Field Workers MISSISSAUGA – May, 2009 – Temporaries across the country will be celebrating Staffing for Canada Week from June 1 to 7, 2009! Member companies of The Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Services (ACSESS), their professional staff and field workers will be actively involved in this celebration. Staffing for Canada Week originated in Edmonton in 1980 as “National Temporaries’ Week.” It has become widely recognized in both Canada and the United States, and is supported by local dignitaries, media celebrities and Canada’s political leaders. ACSESS is proud of the endorsements received each year from the Prime Minister of Canada and Provincial Premiers. In 2009, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has extended the following message to the staffing industry: “Staffing agencies fill a valuable need in an increasingly complex labour market by helping businesses quickly locate talent for short or long-term assignments, offering valuable work experience to young people, or finding new opportunities for experienced workers,” said Harper. The purpose of this week is to acknowledge all those employed by an industry that finds work for over 400,000 Canadians on an annual basis. With more than 1,300 member offices from Vancouver, B.C. to St. John’s Newfoundland, ACSESS members represent 85 per cent of the total volume of business in the staffing services industry in Canada. Members are involved in every service category, from temporary and contract staffing, to professional search. About ACSESS
