ABOUT ACSESS: What is ACSESS

The Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services (ACSESS) resulted from the merger of - The Association of Professional Placement Agencies & Consultants (founded in 1962) and The Employment & Staffing Services Association of Canada (founded in 1968).

The 1998 blending of two strong associations gave ACSESS an expanded mandate to represent all facets of the employment, recruitment and staffing services industry as it is today.

What is ACSESS and how does it assist in ensuring a competent, professional and ethical industry?

The ACSESS Mission is

To Promote the Interests and Growth of the Canadian Recruitment & Staffing Industry

In order to accomplish this ACSESS will . . .

  • identify, communicate and monitor industry standards and ethical business practices
  • positively influence and protect the regulatory and business environment that impacts our members and the people they serve
  • promote credibility and visibility of the industry to the business community, government, and general public
  • provide our members with strategic support services, programs and tools to assist them in achieving their goals and objectives

A primary objective of ACSESS is to actively represent the industry and our membership before governments by providing input on employment legislation and regulations at the national and provincial levels. At the same time, ACSESS assumes a leadership role in ensuring that industry members are aware of legislation and regulatory changes which may (drastically) affect their businesses and responsibilities as employers.

From the standpoint of professional development and industry standards, ACSESS provides and administers the CPC Certification Program. Candidates must meet core requirements which include post-secondary education, length of service in the industry, compliance with the Code of Ethics and testing requirements. On successful completion, these professionals may use the designation CPC (Certified Personnel Consultant).

As a member of ACSESS, services available and distributed regularly include:

  • Dialogue Newsletter
  • Legislative Bulletins
  • Legal Case Studies
  • And a number of Value-Added Services, available to Members only.

In addition to these services, ACSESS promotes a number of educational events, including our annual conference, training and seminars, and district programs, which are held across Canada. Please click on Events to view current and past events.

ACSESS member companies pledge to uphold the Associations Code of Ethics & Standards. They are committed to an industry which gives clients the ability to respond to business realities and changing technologies; and to giving workers - at all levels - an ever-increasing range of employment opportunities.
